FDA is all set to give approval to GMO (genetically modified) salmon

Natural News reports that the FDA is on its way to giving approval to the sale of genetically engineered fish considering it safe for human consumption. The GE salmon that the FDA has given approval to grows twice as fast as the normal Atlantic salmon as they are genetically modified. It is only a matter of time before GM fish is served in restaurants throughout the U.S. However, the FDA has decided to accept suggestions from the public for 60 days before finally executing their plans but critics are of the opinion that this is only a gimmick.   The modification of salmon has been made possible by AquaBounty Technologies or ABT, a company in Prince Edward Island near Boston . ABT is a small biotechnology firm that is working to leverage the yield from aquaculture. It has already made a place for itself in the field of biotechnology by engineering fast growing species of salmon, trout and tilapia.
