Fiberglass in cigarette filters - Who Knew? - Natural News exposes it all and has help for YOU!

Shocking new research reveals that a specific type of lung cancer many smokers develop comes from tiny tears in their lung tissue caused by microscopic glass fibers, also known as glass wool, found in many conventional cigarette filters. These rips in the epithelial (soft) tissue fuel the development of tumors and cancerous cells due to the constant overload of toxins, namely pesticides, nicotine and ammonia, contained in commercial cigarette smoke.

The filters of typical commercial cigarettes contain microscopic, needle-shaped shards of glass wool (like fiberglass insulation) which escape into the mouth and throat, and then lodge with tobacco tar in the lung tissue, surrounding the alveoli (tiny air sacs) and lead to COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), emphysema and eventually lung cancer.

A physician's assistant (PA) and an intensive care nurse at a major hospital reviewed the damaged lung tissue of several cigarette smokers and said the x-rays looked identical to those of patients exposed to asbestos, and that diagnostic imaging revealed what looked like "ground glass" which settled in the soft tissue near the bottom of the lungs (GGO - ground glass opacity). The interviewed nurse said, "When lung tissue is damaged over and over, it develops lesions, and the cancer plants itself in there like seeds." (

According to the PA, the tiny shards penetrate the "lipid bilayer, then embed in the lung tissue, causing the tissue to harden and eventually lose its ability to absorb oxygen." This damage fuels the development of the same type of lung cancer (mesothelioma) associated with asbestos poisoning. He also explained how smoking destroys the cilia (tiny hairs) that help push excretions/mucus out, and how when smokers sleep, their breathing patterns relax and the "tar deposits creep in on damaged air sacs called blebs, eventually rupturing and collapsing them." This is why when smokers awake in the morning they can experience unproductive coughing fits and/or bronchial spasms.

Why Fiberglass?

The cigarette filter (butt) acts as a buffer from the extreme heat of the cigarette's burning chemicals, which can exceed 1700 degrees Fahrenheit during inhale. Fibrous glass has the heat-resistant qualities of asbestos, which makes it an efficient material for insulation; however, if you've ever been in an attic and got insulation on your skin, you already know how irritating the glass fibers can be, so now imagine what it's doing to the inside of a smoker's lungs.

Up to 12,000 microscopic glass fibers are tightly bound together, which explains why filters take between 10 to 15 years to disintegrate. If the filter were simply cotton rolled tightly in paper, a few rainstorms would break it up and wash it away within weeks. Filters are also constructed to catch the tar and the tobacco particles from coming through, but not entirely.

Although fiberglass is not the same as asbestos, it can be just as damaging to the human body. The long, very narrow fibers penetrate deep into lung tissue and remain there. One study conducted with rats showed that fibrous glass is a potent carcinogen, leading to changes in the DNA genetic structure and breaking down the immune system. This is one reason smoker's fight colds, the flu, sinus and bronchial infections for much longer periods of time than non-smokers. (

60 years of BIG LIES from BIG TOBACCO

Independent studies reveal that commercial cigarettes with defective filters have been marketed for over 60 years. Mesothelioma, a deadly cancer that develops in the protective lining of the lungs, abdomen, and/or the cavity around the heart, is most commonly associated with asbestos poisoning, but now research reveals that more than 10% of those cases are now associated with cigarette smokers with NO history of exposure to asbestos.

The tobacco industry has been negligent in failing to perform toxicological examinations to assess human health risks from inhaling and ingesting these synthetic micro-particles released from conventional cigarette filters. The recent "warning ads" about the effects of smoking are not educational, nor do they help smokers understand strategies for cessation at all. The $54 million campaign full of "stark and graphic advertisements" is nothing more than a ploy to pretend like the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) is trying to help with this massive, preventable health crisis. (

Thanks to absolutely no regulations regarding the ingredients used for manufacturing cigarettes, smokers are susceptible to multiple forms of lung disease, including desquamative interstitial pneumonitis from ground glass infiltration of the soft tissues, bronchoalveolar cell carcinoma, and pulmonary fibrosis, which are all revealed from specific lung biopsies (HR-CT scans). (

Since the U.S. government doesn't help smokers quit, who does?

Once a smoker realizes what they've really got themselves into, they can prepare physically and mentally for quitting. 14AndOut is a 60 minute video download which addresses all angles of the smoking addiction, including chemical addiction, behavioral habits, and nutrition for cleansing the lungs and blood. No other program is so unique that fully addresses replenishing nutrients that have been severely depleted by the 4,000 commercial cigarette chemicals. A preview trailer and testimonials are available at the following link: (

14AndOut is a holistic program which is comprehensive and inexpensive, and teaches the smoker how to wean his/herself off cigarettes entirely in 14 days or less. The short course explains how smokers who have switched to e-cigs are still damaging their liver and kidneys by ingesting nicotine, which is the main chemical that feeds the vicious cycle of the smoking addiction. If you're a smoker with a deep desire to escape the nicotine prison, 14AndOut is the way to extend your life.

Canola Oil is actually Rapeseed Oil – The name says it all!

According to Natural News, the real problem with the name "rapeseed oil" was that the oil was so toxic that the FDA banned it for human consumption in 1956. So when Canadian growers bred a new variety of rapeseed in the 1970s with a lower content of the toxic erucic acid, they decided that they needed a new name for it.

The term canola was coined from "Canadian oil, low acid" to convince consumers that this oil was safe to eat. And while "canola" was originally a registered trademark, the term became so widely known that the trademark was eventually abandoned, and canola became the default term in many countries for any low-erucic rapeseed oil.

Canola oil is a very effective insecticide, and it is the primary ingredient in many "organic" (non-chemical) pesticide control products sprayed on vegetables to kill bugs.
What happens to YOUR organs and your blood when you consume insecticide regularly?

Canola oil can have detrimental effects on your health, especially the genetically modified (GM) canola that Monsanto so conveniently manufacturers for the masses to consume. It's all mixed into those fancy, condiment-loaded, creamy salads at the friendly grocer, and it's FRESH! Step right up to the fresh bar! Add in some tasty conventional spices and keep it hot or cold in those little bins for those "whole" food enthusiasts. Lots of people pack a few of the canola "mixtures" into plastic (BPA) containers and take them home.

As much as 50 percent of the olive oil sold in the U.S. is not actually pure olive oil, as some brands claiming to be "extra-virgin" or "100 percent Italian," for instance, have actually been adulterated with toxic rapeseed oil, more popularly known as canola oil, along with soybean oil and other low-grade oils. In his new book, Extra Virginity: The Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil, olive oil expert Tom Mueller explains that not all olive oil is the same and offers advice on how to spot authentic olive oil amidst all the imposters.

During a recent interview with Terry Gross from National Public Radio's Fresh Air, Mueller explains how olive oil adulteration is much more widespread than people think, if they are even aware of it at all. For olive oil to truly be considered "extra-virgin," it has to come from fresh, crushed olives and not be refined in any way or contain any chemical solvents. It also has to pass certain tests of integrity in order to be considered legitimate. Many of the brands popularly sold today would fail.

"The legal definition simply says it has to pass certain chemical tests, and in a sensory way it has to taste and smell vaguely of fresh olives, because it's a fruit, and have no faults," said Mueller. "But many of the extra-virgin olive oils on our shelves today in America don't clear [the legal definition]."

Cheese, Meat, Bread and Canola Oil for America – eat up! – An inside look at heart disease and cancer breeders

Animal fat clogs your veins and canola oil chokes your cells, but America doesn’t care. Bread is full of gluten and pesticide but America doesn’t care – well, until it happens to them. You know, that c word rears its ugly head at the doctor’s office, or those words “bypass surgery” come up in a conversation with someone close to them. Wow? They have to do what? – Scrape animal fat out of your artery walls? Your heart is working how hard? What? I never learned about that in science class, sorry. And they never teach nutrition in schools – it might even be illegal.

How could YOU have gotten cancer or heart disease? You were moderate about what you ate, right? Everything in moderation, right? Nope. Not anymore. That was the old days, when mom and pop grocery stores carried fresh untainted produce for your grandparents to buy, and biotech hadn’t taken over most of the major farms of the U.S. Midwest. Yep, thems-the-good ole days. Before pesticide food. Before food glue (gluten) that sticks to your insides and clogs your intestines with poison, daily. Those were the days, when you actually could sit down and eat some meat, drink a glass of milk, and nosh on some bread and cheese without getting a little heart disease and cancer. That’s an “American Pastime” for ya.

Today, if you don’t eat 70% raw organic vegetables and fruits, you could be in for a rude awakening. If you don’t watch everything you eat and read every label on every item you buy, including those personal care items you put on your skin – your largest organ – well, then, you could be in for bad news from your WITCH DOCTOR – that allopathic apathetic and often pathetic excuse to NOT WATCH what you eat, what you drink, and what you put on your body. Yep, a hundred million people are ALL wrong. There is no safety in those numbers. It’s the blind leading the blind who are leading the blind right off the HEALTH CLIFF. Allopathic and Conventional Cancer Institutes of America. Doc in tha box! 24 Hour sick care facilities for people who watch TV and read the Newspapers for their news on medicine.

From Kraft to General Mills to Post, you can rely on Big Food trying to trick you into thinking they are doing the right things to help people be health conscious, but they are NOT. Corporations have to play their games, to convince the sheeple to buy their toxic cereals made from bug killing corn. Do you have MALTODEXTRIN CANCER? Did you have a HFCS heart attack? What happened? I thought you were eating that whole grain cereal in moderation. What went wrong? I thought you ate that whole grain bread and that blood restricting cheese in moderation. “A little bit won’t kill ya” is what they always say, right?

Canola Oil Food Bar and the “All you should NEVER eat special!” – A Natural News exclusive

What? There’s no such thing as a canola plant? Then what is canola oil? You thought it was like corn or soy, and you thought those used to be okay, remember?

I feel so bad for people who don’t know. When I walk through Whole Foods or some other huge grocery store I see all those semi-healthy people eyeballing that food bar, like the Gods dropped off everything they love, but they can only pick 3 things. Little do they know that is what they’re going to eat, three things. Canola oil is not even food, but it’s in just about everything creamy – everyone of those “salads” and creamy dishes all prepared and waiting for you to scoop some into your individualized container and head over to a table by the window, or maybe back to your car with a spoon. You WILL need a spoon by the way to scoop up all of that cell choking gunk.

Canola oil is rapeseed oil. You can’t eat rapeseed oil. They have to cook down, cook out, and reduce rapeseed so it meets FDA guidelines, but what about the limit on pesticides? Just because you can’t smell the rapeseed and the bug killer doesn’t mean it’s not there. People die every day because of gas leaks in their homes that can’t be smelled, so don’t even go there. Plus, canola doesn’t even stink while it’s going rancid, so that fresh food that you scooped into your container bucket may be fresh, but the canola could be old, and you just may be “getting old” fast, heading for your canola fresh grave. This is serious. The canola food bar is really bad, folks. You could be getting heart lesions. It’s time to find out more. Canola could be choking your cells and leading you right to cancer. Don’t trust the food bar. And you can’t read the labels because they aren’t there. It’s like pot luck and you don’t know anyone who made your food. Does that sound like a safe way to fuel your body? How hungry are you, really? - Hungry enough to ruin your health? Buy organic and prepare it yourself. Better yet, grow your own, if you can.

S.D. Wells at Natural News writes:

Step right up to your favorite food bar, whether at Whole Foods, Harris Teeter or Farm Fresh, and "get you some" potato salad, coleslaw, egg salad, pasta salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, baked goods, or just make your own salad with lots of salad "dressing" and you are most likely getting a few heaping tablespoons of rapeseed oil with each serving, better known these days as canola oil.

If we fail to take precautions, then cancer will be the number 1 disease of all time!

According to Natural News, the overall number of new people who will develop cancer in a given year is expected to nearly double over the next two decades, claims a new report put out by the World Health Organization (WHO). Analysts at the international governing body say the current global rate of about 14 million new cancer cases annually, per 2012 data, will eventually balloon to somewhere in the ballpark of 25 million new cancer cases annually by 2035.

The report comes on the heels of an earlier one out of France that similarly calculated a 75 percent increase in cancer diagnoses by 2030. With the exception of a few minor variances, both reports speculate that, based on current trends, new cases of cancer will skyrocket in the coming years. And the hardest hit will be poor and developing countries, many of which are right now undergoing major changes as a result of Western influence.

As far as the latest WHO report, this expected increase in new cancer cases has already been dubbed an imminent "human disaster," according to the U.K.'s Guardian. Unless the governments and medical systems of the world make a rapid switch to focusing on prevention rather than treatment, WHO says, the devastation that is soon to come, both in terms of unsustainable medical costs and widespread societal loss, will be unprecedented.

"The global cancer burden is increasing and quite markedly, due predominantly to the aging of the populations and population growth," alleges Chris Wild, director of WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer, as quoted by BBC News. "If we look at the cost of treatment of cancers, it is spiraling out of control, even for the high-income countries. Prevention is absolutely critical and it's been somewhat neglected."

Natural News has donated $10,000 to victims of Typhoon Haiyan, the superstorm that devastated the Philippines last year. Tens of thousands of people are believed to have died in the storm.

"The Philippine National Red Cross says its search and rescue efforts in the wake of a deadly typhoon -- feared to have caused a 'very high number of fatalities' -- is being hampered by looters, including some who attacked trucks of food and other relief supplies the agency was shipping from a port city," reports Fox News. The damage was so severe that even getting an accurate count of the fatalities is currently impossible.

According to Fox News, "The rescue operation is ongoing. We expect a very high number of fatalities as well as injured," Interior Secretary Max Roxas said. "All systems, all vestiges of modern living -- communications, power water, all are down. Media is down, so there is no way to communicate with the people in a mass sort of way."

Trivia: 20 Questions that make smokers QUIT on the spot!

Here are 20 questions that engage smokers and help them consider why they smoke cigarettes, just what they are really smoking, and why they can't quit. These questions are posed to students of the one-hour class "14AndOut," and then those answers are reflected upon and/or corrected by the teacher and inventor of the program, who reveals exactly how to quit in 14 days or fewer, naturally, without medications and without hypnosis. The 20 questions invite any and all smokers to think about the chemical knowledge associated with the addiction, consider the most common and popular behavior rituals to change, and finally to engage nutrition in order to "replace and replenish" a broken down digestive, breathing, and cleansing system, so you have energy and a positive outlook when you quit cigarettes for good.

The 20 question "smoking" trivia quiz

1. Can you name five household chemicals in a cigarette? Most students guess three ingredients and then they are stuck; "Tobacco, paper, and um, um, nicotine?" Some typical guesses include pesticide and formaldehyde. One student even guessed fiberglass once. Little do most people know though, commercial cigarettes contain a whole boatload of dangerous products. That's why smokers call them cancer sticks. Cigarettes contain ammonia for super strength nicotine and plastic (cellulose acetate) to make it burn evenly, and glass wool (fiberglass filter), not to mention bleach and herbicide weed killer (GMO RoundUp). These chemicals combine to give smokers a chemical "hangover" which in turn feeds the "nic fit" (nicotine) relief for the anxiety caused by the 4,000 plus chemicals, namely the top five listed above. Here's a clip from the "Stop Smoking King" on YouTube: (

2. Why are cigarettes white? Most students have no clue as to the answer to this simple question. Trees are brown. Paper comes from trees. Cigarettes are rolled in white, bleached paper. You are smoking bleach. Smokers need detoxification help when they quit, especially to get bleach and pesticide out of their cleansing organs, like their kidneys, their pancreas and their liver. You cannot live without these vital organs. Big Tobacco knows this. Nutrition is the "Yellow Brick Road" to freedom from the commercial cigarette chemical "hangover." (

3. Besides nicotine, what makes cigarettes so addicting? Students often say "the nicotine," but they can't really explain why. Many smokers light up to get rid of their anxiety, but what's causing the anxiety? Some smokers light up to get some "drive," thought boost or a little hit of confidence, but why is their confidence lacking? The majority of smokers just smoke because they are stressed out about life and how to live it, but again, why can't they quit when things get "good?" The addiction isn't to nicotine, it's to relief from the central nervous system overload of heavy toxins that are trapped inside of tar, which is trapped inside both lungs, and the vicious cycle that ensues by smoking another "stogie."

4. How do tobacco leaves contain poison? Smokers can't answer this one. Most tobacco is GMO, genetically modified in a lab, so the bug killer and weed killer is put in the seeds, then grows INSIDE the plant, and so tobacco can also withstand more topical RoundUp and bug/worm killer, making commercial tobacco a pesticide bonfire of carcinogenic poison loaded up in every puff.

5. Why does it take up to 15 years for a cigarette filter to disintegrate? Peel apart a cigarette "butt" or filter and you will find what looks just like fiberglass insulation. That's right, this is glass "wool," not some sponge wrapped up tight. If it were just paper and say, cotton, it would break up and dissolve after a few rainstorms if left outside. These microscopic "glass" shards collect in the lungs and damage soft tissue called epithelial. Also known as ground glass opacity, it shows up on CT scans:

6. Why do cigarettes burn so hot, so evenly and never go out in heavy wind? One student answered "the nicotine?" Actually, cellulose acetate, used to manufacture photo film, is carefully cross weaved into the papers. That's one reason cigarettes don't go out in the wind, and they burn evenly, never trailing up one side. Consider also why cigarettes burn at 1700 degrees during inhale. Have you seen the movie "Inglorious Bastards?" Photo film is highly flammable. This is an "efficient nicotine delivery device" (ENDD is the acronym - appropriately). This means you're smoking plastic. This is not regulated.

7. What effect do all of the chemicals have on your body? Smoking pesticide, herbicide and insecticide, mixed with ammonia and bleach, is definitely asking for a bad habit you can't quit without help. Most smokers who quit cold turkey go back to smoking within six months due to the long depressing chemical "detox," add in that they don't know anything about nutrition, and the CDC programs don't offer any help in this arena. Organic, more alkaline foods and water are necessary for speedy recovery and "killing the urge" to smoke. Ask nutritionists about mucuna and maca powders! (

8. Why do the pills, the patch, and nicotine gum fail so many? Nobody knows the answer to this one in the classes. To make a long story short, they are nothing like what a smoker is going through after quitting, or while quitting, and they don't wean you properly. The patch and the gum give you about 5 percent of the dose of nicotine commercial cigarettes provide, so the whole quitting system is flawed from the beginning. The pills can block your hormones and dopamine, leading to feelings of suicide. People don't usually like that.

9. What government agencies regulate the potency of nicotine? Nobody regulates it. That's part of the problem. Even if they did, they can't measure the real POTENCY of the nicotine after ammonia has been added to "free base" the vapor ready "nic fix." Have you ever read how many milligrams of nicotine you're getting? Take a look on the box and the carton, there's no information.

10. Why do cigarette manufacturers use ammonia when making cigarettes? For a faster hit! Ammonia-treated nicotine allows the nicotine fix to reach the heart and the brain within three SECONDS. This is why people like "certain brands" so much. Even e-cigs can keep someone addicted to nicotine, and sometimes MORE of it. The stimulant relieves the smoker of the chemical hangover - the HOOK. This goes highly unregulated.

11. Is your breathing pattern better when smoking? People say yes and no, but the real answer is yes. About 98 percent of smokers breathe a specific pattern when they inhale, hold, and exhale cigarette smoke, altogether different from their typical breathing pattern when not smoking. When people try to quit cigarettes, they quit this "ritual" which was relaxing them, even though the chemicals were pouring in. The breathing ritual is ignored, and this is a physical characteristic of withdrawal, the inability to relax, especially after meals (bad ones at that).

12. Do you have a hand to mouth habit? Absolutely you do. The typical pack has 20 cigarettes and figure 10 to 12 puffs per cigarette. A pack-a-day smoker puts his/her hand to their mouth, up and down, up to 250 times a day. A two-pack-a-day smoker is in a ritual of this up to 500 times a day. This must be replaced with water, raw nuts, superfood snacks and smoothies, organic chocolate, etc. There's plenty of quality supply at the NaturalNews store: (

13. Is smoking a form of meditation? Some answer yes and they're absolutely right. Most smokers either change their environment to smoke, like going outside, or they get away from certain people, or they join certain people to talk about whatever the nicotine rush helps them consider. Once the nicotine is replaced with proper nutrition and pH balance of the body, meditation is easier and can be your "best friend."

14. Why do most smokers enjoy a cigarette after meals? In the 1930s, Camel advertised that cigarettes help with digestion. They even showed doctors recommending their favorite brand, and one ad tells you to have one in between each course during Thanksgiving. The myth has lived and been perpetuated for nearly a century now. It's the breathing pattern that relaxes the smoker. Consider question 11 again here. Here's the unbelievable advertisement! (

15. Is there any such thing as organic tobacco? Of course, but nobody has been educated about the benefits here. Forget about the patch, the pills, the gum, and wean yourself off the strong stuff naturally, without the chemicals. Buy organic tobacco and roll your own.

16. What is the art of breathing? Students usually say "I don't know" to this question. Some suggest yoga or meditation. Here's an easy "trick" that helps thousands quit. Put two fingers together as if you have a cigarette, and inhale, as if you were smoking, and hold for a second or two and then exhale as if you're blowing smoke. Do this every time you would have had a cigarette, and for as many repetitions too. Don't give up the breathing ritual!

17. Why do people often put on weight after they quit? There are many answers to this one. The most popular ones are the lack of the stimulant, depression, anxiety and general negativity, but the answer they don't give is nutrition. Most smokers have virtually given up on nutrition since smoking is obviously so bad for you, so when they quit, they don't change a thing. No wonder.

18. How can you learn to hate cigarettes if you like them now? You hear it all the time from smokers, "I hate these things!" So why don't they quit? It's because they really like the relief it gives them from smoking all that bug killer and weed killer, but they just don't know how to explain it. Smokers often fail to replace and replenish behaviors they like and organic food must come into play.

19. How will you deal with the urge and with stress when you quit? Students have no answer for this one. Nutrition is the key, but no smoking programs really ever mention it, much less FOCUS on it, except for 14AndOut, which recommends considering advice from nutrition experts and naturopathic physicians. Also, watching documentaries is great for momentum and easy guidance. Check out "Food Matters" and "Forks over Knives." (

20. What's the main reason the pills don't work, but makes things worse? Medications like Zyban and Chantix have worked for some, but for most it's just horrific nightmares and heightened feelings of anxiety. That's right, the "side effect" of trying to quit with medicine is a heightened paranoia of exactly what has people smoking cigarettes all day in the first place. Needless worry, general depression, nervousness, sleeplessness, loss of libido, this is nothing new to smokers. Plus you now get a heightened risk of heart attacks! Who wants to shock that into mass effect next? Not too many. (

Hey smokers, here's the 21st question you should be asking yourself
