According to Natural News, Dannon, one
of the leading global food giants, is using insect juice as a coloring agent in
the yogurts they manufacture. This fact was brought to the public's attention
by a report from the nonprofit consumer group called Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). They have
asked the consumer giant to remove the insect juice immediately before the
product is launched in the market.
As per the reports of CSPI, the
carminic acid used to color the yogurt is not only harmful but is also
responsible for different kinds of allergic reactions in those who consume it.
In fact, this advocacy group’s guide strongly states that people should avoid
eating processed foods that have this acid in them, as they are highly allergic
in nature. Maybe this is one of the reasons why Dannon does not use this ingredient
in their yogurts made for the kids.

Many of you might remember that a
similar issue broke out in the year 2012 when Starbucks, a world famous coffee
chain, was in the spotlight for using this acid in their beverages. And
surprisingly, this ingredient is used by Dannon in their products. This is
really shocking as it seems that corporate giants fail to learn their lesson in
spite of their competitors being in the limelight for the same wrong reason.
The Center for Science in the
Public Interest (CSPI), a consumer advocacy organization, aims to fulfill its 2
missions; one of which is to undertake innovative research and advocacy
programs in health and nutrition, and the second one is to inform the consumers
about useful information on health and well being.
